biscuit dough bao buns

Did you know you can make fluffy steamed bao buns with canned biscuit dough?! It's so easy and makes a great base for any filling. I personally love bao buns for the contrast of the fluffy bun and a crispy filling. The Trader Joe's Pork Belly makes it so easy to make delicious buns, just slice it up and throw it in the airfryer. If you don't have a Trader Joe's near you, you can cook up your own pork belly. Fried chicken or tofu would also be an amazing pair for these bao buns. I like to top my buns with a tangy bite, a simple slaw with sugar and vinegar is the perfect topping!

Ingredients

Buns

1 can of biscuit dough

2 packages Trader Joe's Pork Belly

Pickled Vegetables

1 carrot, shredded

¼ cucumber, sliced thinly

¼ cup red onion, sliced thinly

1.5 TBS sugar

2 TBS vinegar

Optional Toppings

Hoison Sauce

Chilli Oil or Chilli Sauce

Cilantro to garnish

Steps

Bao Buns

1) Roll each biscuit out until thin

2) Spray oil onto the top then fold over

3) Add to a steamer and steam with the lid on for 10 minutes or until the buns are fluffy and cooked through

Pickled Vegetables

1) Mix the vegetables with sugar and vinegar to taste. The longer it sits, the more pickled the vegetables will get

Pork Belly

1) Slice the pork belly and add to the airfryer preheated to 400 degrees

2) Cook until crispy, about 10-14 minutes

To assemble

1) Carefully open the bun and add pork belly, sauce, pickled veggies and top with cilantro
